Do you need samples for your medical/health writing portfolio?

You've come to the right place!

I had the pleasure of working with Kristi to guest post on her blog. I was particularly impressed with her patience and editing skills. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for help to improve their writing.

~ Doreen Udoudom

You can get some high-quality samples for your portfolio with guest blog posts.

Kristi quite generously allowed me to write a guest post for her website. She was very professional, prompt, and gave excellent advice on what editors are looking for in formatting and SEO. I would highly recommend her services to new content writers.

~ Kate Byrd, Pharm MD

.

I do not pay for articles, but I will allow you to use your own voice so your prospects and potential clients can see you shine in your articles.

Along with samples for your portfolio, you can also receive one-on-one coaching sessions to help you improve your writing and formatting skills.

You can choose from three tiers of one-on-one coaching.

During these sessions, you will receive feedback and instruction specific to the article you submitted for publication on
the blog.

You can then use the information you gathered to improve your future articles.

So, what's the first step?

Send me an email with the topic you want to write about, or you can request a topic.

Please put "guest post" in the email's subject line.

I will review the topic and get back to you. I usually respond within 24 hours.

I accept most well-written medical/health/patient education-related articles, with few exceptions. They can be patient-facing or healthcare worker-facing.

I reserve the right to refuse any article for any reason.

I will accept most articles in any of these and similar areas:

  • Heart Health
  • Heart Healthy habits
  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Cardiovascular conditions
  • Cardiovascular procedures

If you know which of the three coaching tiers you want, you can tell me in this initial email. If you do not know yet, don't worry, we can discuss it after you send the article.

What's the next step?

Once I have approved your article or assigned you one, write the article following the guidelines below and submit it.

There is no rush or deadline. Take your time.

Article guidelines:

· 500 to 1200 words

· No profanity

· Use at least 3 good, trusted resources published within the past 10 years (I prefer primary sources, but will accept trusted hospital systems such as the Mayo Clinic, Harvard Health, or Boston Children's Hospital)

· If you use online sources, please place inline links to the sources in your articles and your sources section.

· Please grammar-check and proofread before you submit the article.

· Write your name as the author below the title and link to your LinkedIn profile or website.

· Send a bio with links to your portfolio, social media, blog, or website (I reserve the right to remove links if deemed inappropriate).

· Connect with me on LinkedIn, so I can tag your name to your article when it is published.

Once I receive the article, I will review it and email you to verify which tier of coaching you want.

You can send me your payment via PayPal, and we will get started.

Note: If your article is almost completely clean and needs very few edits, I may publish it for free. (Basically, if it takes me less than half an hour to get your article ready and post it, I will not charge you for publishing it.)

Tier 1: $50

I will read your article, suggest edits, and give ideas to help you make the edits.

After you edit and resubmit the article, I will go over it, complete additional edits as needed, and send you feedback in an email before publishing the article.

Feedback may include:

  • How to improve your writing skills
  • How to improve the format of your articles
  • Recommendations for books, websites, or apps that can help you improve your writing skills
  • Answer basic questions as best I can in an email format

(We can add a 15-minute phone chat to discuss these topics for an extra $25.)

As a new writer looking for work samples to build my portfolio, I reached out to Kristi and asked to write a guest blog post for Write Shift RN. She provided a topic, and upon submitting the draft, I promptly received valuable feedback. Kristi is both thoughtful and thorough, and the coaching service she offers will certainly help writers reach their goals.

~ Casey Magill, RN, BSN

Tier 2: $150

After you submit your article, I will edit it in either Google or Word docs (whichever you prefer), making detailed notations of why I made the edits. I will send you a copy of my notes in an email, along with recommendations for other ways to improve, such as:

  • How to improve your writing skills
  • How to find and cite your sources
  • How to improve the format of your articles
  • Recommendations for books, websites, or apps that can help you improve your writing skills
  • Answer your questions as best I can in an email format

(We can add a 30-minute phone chat to discuss these topics for an extra $50.)

I provided a guest blog to Kristi's website and used her Tier 2 coaching.

She provided me with constructive notes regarding my writing.

Kristi made multiple edits to my draft that improved its quality and readability. Through her coaching, I gained insight into what editors desire. She also made a recommendation for a helpful program to use for editing.

Kristi was professional and timely in her communications.

I recommend her services to new content writers.

It's a great way to get published, grow your portfolio, and gain valuable feedback.

~ Ruth Mielke DNP, RN, CNM

Tier 3: $300

After you submit your article, we will schedule a phone chat (up to two hours).

  • We will review your article in Google or Word docs (whichever you prefer).
  • I will show you my edits as I do them, and we can discuss their rationale.
  • I will give you real-time suggestions and recommendations to further improve your writing skills.
  • We will switch over to Grammarly and discuss how to use it to edit and proofread your articles further.
  • I will answer any questions you may have as they come up.

You are a person of your word.

Kristi's coaching service was valuable because she is detailed and knows how to explain the changes that she made.

Because I am new to the writing space, working with Kristi was excellent.

She explained why she made the changes, went into detail on how to format a document, and made sure I was okay with the changes she made.

I would use her services again because of her patience in answering every question. She allowed me to contribute to the changes that needed to be made.

Her patience in explaining the process is worth the time and the money.

She exceeded my expectations by showing me how Grammarly pro works, explaining punctuations, and restructuring sentences.

She is thoughtful, patient, and kind. (Not sure if it should be numerically rated or worded, but 10/10).

~ Lynn Bomett, LPN
